Frequently asked questions
Why does my cat ignore toys?
Probably the toy doesn't mimic real prey. Wands with feathers that move fast, toys that hide catnip, or that make subtle sounds work better.
Does catnip work on all cats?
No. About 30% of cats lack the gene reacting to catnip. For those, valerian or matatabi (silvervine) are alternatives.
Horizontal or vertical scratcher?
Depends on the cat's preference. Watch where they already scratch (sofa, wall, rug) and pick a scratcher in the same orientation.
Can I give human treats?
No. Onion, garlic, chocolate, grapes and dairy can be toxic. Always pick treats formulated for cats.
